I love these two people. Sitting down with them over a beer to talk about their wedding, I got to witness such an incredible tenderness in their love for each other. I found myself inspired by these two even though I’ve been married for over 10 years and have what I consider to be a great marriage. It may have something to do with the fact that early on in their dating relationship Mike was diagnosed with a pretty aggressive brain cancer…clearly a diagnosis that takes a new relationship to a pretty serious stage pretty quickly. I was so impressed to hear their story and how Erica stepped up and was committed to staying with Mike and fighting alongside him and supporting him every step of the way through the endless doctor visits, hospital stays, surgeries, treatments…I’ve also never met anyone like Mike who is arguably one of the most positive and joyful people I have ever met. Every time you see him you are met with a big smile and kind words.
This is why I was so honored to be a part of telling their story, because these are the stories that need to be shared time and time again. Their love and commitment to each other isn’t free of heartache and seemingly impossible hurdles to overcome…but I love seeing that they make it about journeying together and supporting each other through it all. Their wedding day was appropriately sunny, gorgeous, and filled with so much love and excitement. They celebrated each other and the family and friends that are surrounding them during this difficult season.
